The Wine Panel - Truth Teller | The Miscreant Project 2021 "GobsSMack'd" Rhône Blend 90 points (January 30, 2024)
"While technically a GSM, it's really an SGM, with the blend being 56% Syrah followed by 27% Grenache and 17% Mourvedre. There's nothing shy about GobSmack'd, which to some means being overwhelmed with surprise, shock, or astounded. Appropriately named, this wine has a decadent character with notes of bacon fat, toasted oak, vanilla, and of course red and blue fruits. This wine would be a solid pick for a large event if you could only have one affordable red for a big group."
Vinous (Eric Guido) - Truth Teller | The Miscreant Project 2021 "GobsSMack'd" Rhône Blend 90 points (August 2023)
"The 2021 GobSMack’d is understated in the glass. Mint and incense aromas give way to citrus-tinged black cherries. This soothes with its soft textures and ripe red and black fruits. A core of saline-minerality adds a more tactile feel toward the close. Violet inner florals and sour melon hints linger as the 2021 finishes with a peppery flourish. While this could use some time to evolve aromatically, the GobSMack’d is very nicely balanced and aims to please. This is a blend of 56% Syrah, 27% Grenache and 17% Mourvedre."
